Birds of Illinois

My second Photo of the Week is a male Eastern Bluebird in flight. I took this last weekend at Glacial Park and could hardly have been happier with the outcome. Tracking birds in flight is difficult at the best of times but for a brief moment, this bluebird was in a stationary hover making this shot possible. The almost unbelievably blue color of the bird contrasts with the spring blue sky.
